Homenaje a Don Jose Maria de la Pena y Camara

Hardcover. xi, 287p., illustrated solely with a photoportrait of the honoree, a custom-bound item measuring 10x7 inches, plainly publisher-issued first in soft binding but here cased into open-weave blue cloth boards with spine-titling gilt on a green leather panel. Nice job, but we could wish the binder had not discarded the original wraps, and also that he had not tried to tint the top edge of textblock a bright red, or at least knew how to apply the color; binder used a semi-liquid tint that has seeped into top margin of every leaf. Professional top-tinters use dry pigment. At any rate, a sound attractive copy, number 211 of a run of 1,000, inscribed and signed on the ffep by George P. Hammond. Item is in very good shape, clean and unmarked by any other ownership or institutional notices.
