Script for a documentary drama about Sacco and Vanzetti, published two years after their execution. Blume, ranked at this time as one of the "five Bs" of German theater (Brecht, Bruckner, Bronnen, Barlach, and Blume), departed for the US in 1936 (his Jewish wife had lost her job under the Nazis, and Blume was officially boycotted because of his marriage to her). After coming to Mills College in California, among his subsequent academic posts in the US was the Kuno Francke Professorship of German Art and Culture at Harvard University, 1955-1966; he received two Guggenheim fellowships.
