New York: Basement Workshop, 1982. Pamphlet. Folded mailer advertising poetry readings, exhibitions, and workshops. Small pushpin holes at top, else very good. Among the workshops offered are a poetry workshop held by Jessica Hagedorn, a Dance class with Theodora Yoshikami, and a Performance workshop with Ping Chong.
Formed out of the Asian American movement in 1970, the Basement Workshop was the first Asian American political and arts organization in New York City. Among the most famous collaborations to emerge from the Workshop was a poetry/dance performance of Mei-Mei Berssenbrugge's work choreographed by Theodora "Teddy" Yoshikami. The Basement Workshop closed in 1986.
