The Voyages and Adventures of Ferdinand Mendez Pinto, the Portuguese. (Done into English by Henry Cogan). With an Introduction by Arminius Vambery. An Abridged and Illustrated Edition.
London: T. Fisher Unwin, 1891. Hardcover. xxxii, 464p., illustrated with facsimiles and folded plates (map, and the two ship depictions, are rendered exceptionally well, but several others are damaged), hardbound in red cloth boards gilt. Casing bears a half-inch gash along its upper joint with loss, leaving a hole, and the front hinge has been repaired (successfully & neatly) with linen document tape. Rear hinge is mildly weak but holding. Red stain appears in odd locations: two folded plates are marked with it, someone opened the book with damp fingertips, and browsed. Item, easy to handle, is a "reading copy". The Adventure series.
