Boston / Tokyo: Houghton Mifflin Company / Charles E. Tuttle Company, 1965. Hardcover. xvi, 955p., "a complete and unabridged photo-offset reproduction of the latest American edition, specially published for sale in the Far East.. offered in the public interest at a great reduction in price". Hardbound, a handsome edition in openweave dark blue cloth boards gilt and enclosed in the glossy dust jacket. We do not have the "American edition" for comparison, but this issue seems not to have cut any corners in materials or design. Nice copy pace a little edgewear to dj: the book itself is sound, clean, unmarked, very crisp and square, and the jacket is perfectly presentable. A History of East Asian Civilization, volume two: Modern Asia edition [of] East Asia, The Modern Transformation.
Numerals on the dj states that the U.S. edition came out at $14.50, while this issue sold for $5.95 (in 1965).
