Red Diamond [poem on a broadside calendar for 1919 from the 5th Division]

n.p. Base Printing Plant, 29th Engineers, US Army, [1918]. Broadside. 9x13.5 inch broadside, poem inside a red diamond (the nickname for the Division); the diamond is subdivided into smaller diamonds with the numbers of infantry regiments and machine gun battalions). The calendar is divided into four sections at the corners. The reverse lists the Division's subsidiary units. There is a penciled note at the bottom of the reverse by a member of the Division, inscribed to someone back home "from your truly sweethart Jack with love." Mild wear and toning, generally very good.

The poem, in eleven stanzas, celebrates the Division's accomplishments. "Who drove the Hun from out Frapelle, / Patrolled him out of Fontanelle, / The Ban-de-Sapt, the Plaine near Celles? / Red Diamond!"
