Johnny Richards was born in Mexico as Juan Manuel Cascales to a Spanish father and Mexican mother. They immigrated to Laredo, Texas in 1919. He was a jazz composer and arranger best know for his work with Stan Kenton on "West Side Story" and "Cuban Fire."
