[Two handbills announcing a talk by Carl Brodsky on "The Moscow Trials and their lessons for American democracy"]

Buffalo, NY: Erie County Committee, Communist Party, [1938]. Two different 8.5x11 inch handbills with anti-Trotsky cartoons, announcing an April 21 talk at Moose Hall. Both are toned with some mild crinkling from dampness (not musty).

One leaflet depicts a hand labeled Soviet Russia, strangling a snake bearing Trotsky's head and a series of swastikas; the other depicts a "Rogues Gallery" including Trotsky, Bukharin, and a diminutive Jay Lovestone. The latter cartoon is captioned, "Attention auto workers! Do you know that Jay Lovestone, arch-disrupter in the UAW, is the American agent of the gang of recently convicted Trotsky and Bukharin traitors?"
