Osaka: Suzando, 1888, 1889. Two volumes only from the set, rebound as hardcovers, one with original color cover pasted to front board. Textblock appears to have been cropped for rebinding, but printed portion is entirely present. Cloth binding shows loss of sizing on one volume. Thoroughly illustrated Japanese-language travel guide with English captions; quite desired and expensive as a complete set in good condition, but here alas are only two volumes, with the flaws described and general wear to the boards. From the library of the American Japanologist Frank Gibney, his name penciled on a page near the end of one volume.
