The First School Book Printed in California, with an exact facsimile reproduction of the unique copy in the Huntington Library. With an Introduction by Carey S. Bliss
Los Angeles: The Zamorano Club, 1976. Hardcover. 13p., nice letterpress on splendid thick deckled paperstock, a pleasant hardbound consisting of two sewn fascicles cased into 10x7 inch rough brown linen boards with printed paper cover label (also a facsimile) and spine titling gilt. The actual-size facsimile (a 4x2.5 inch softbound) is mounted inside front cover in a cloth pocket; removal requires caution, this tiny booklet appears to have a tiny crimp in its spinefold. Spine of the large enclosing book is very faintly paler than the covers, and the gilt lettering also a little faint, either from handling or -more likely- the heavily textured cloth being resistant to type (but is legible). A very good copy: absolutely clean, sound and unmarked.
