Sacramento: Department of Natural Resources, 1957. Hardcover. 261p., illustrated with b&w site photos, tables, line maps, printed on semi-coated alkaline paperstock and hardbound in green buckram with titling and a decoration in yellow. 'Tis from the personal collection of professor emeritus A. Starker Leopold, a UC Berkeley treehugger, with his rubberstamp on the ffep. Nice copy: endsheets a little toned (not so the main text), and top margin front board has sustained a nick, otherwise as issued. One minor mystery, an endpocket contains folded maps in fine shape, but we've no clue how many are supposed to occupy this. One insert is simply a promotional squib from author Burcham, the next is a diagramatic map showing natural vegetation predominence throughout the state, and the next is.. a duplicate of that same map.
