New York: Vintage Contemporaries / Vintage Books, 1997. Paperback. 140p. plus unpaginated poems as by Precious herself, about 35 pages, these gotten up as if from typescript (as in the Knopf issue); the author taught remedial reading to just such pupils, partly accounting for the brilliant inventiveness. Softbound, an 8x5 inch paperback. This copy is damaged with a five-inch vertical slit that is repeated less violently on the adjacent two leaves, damage most likely done by mat knife in opening a shipment. We have applied easy-release clear tape to two slits. As is, a presentable, handleable item with aforesaid damage.
There are few differences between this film-related edition and the Knopf issue; pagination changes somewhere in the first hundred, Knopf closes at 142p and this at 140, we see no changes in text. Preliminaries are slightly rearranged (Wordsworth epigraph is recto in one edition, verso the other). The announced "reader's guide" is only a page and a half long. Cover is of course quite different.
