Los Angeles; Bay Ridge: local NOW chapters, 1980. Two staplebound 8.5x11 inch leaflets, three pages each, very good.
The first item is a statement by the Los Angeles NOW chapter accusing many members of writing off the ERA as unwinnable; it calls for a delay in the election of new officers to avoid distraction from a last-ditch campaign to pass the ERA. The second item is a response from Bay Ridge NOW that calls the LA statement a "vicious, witch-hunting attack on anyone who disagrees with their position." Together, these documents offer a glimpse into the tensions that wracked the group as the deadline for ERA ratification approached.
