President Voeller was a biologist who came out at age 29 divorcing his wife and joining the GAA. Dissatisfied with the outreach he formed National Gay Task Force in 1973. In the early 1980s he coined the term Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome or A.I.D.S.
