New York: Spiess, [ca. 1920]. 7x10 inch thin card with a intaglio cartouche pressed in blind, this frames a 4.25x6.25 inch sepia photo-portrait of Stedman appearing as he did in his 1920 campaign as the Socialist Party's vice presidential candidate alongside Eugene Debs. Nice clear resolution. Signed by the photographer at lower right, using only surname; Stedman is identified in pencil on the verso. Very good.
Stedman, a civil liberties lawyer who had previously run for mayor of Chicago, was also a longtime socialist.
