Hardcover. xv, 63p., appendices, fine first edition limited to 32 copies designed and printed by hand from machine set Simoncini type faces on French 'Canson' papers by Gabriel Precio at the Plain Wrappers Press, Buenos Aires, Argentina, in July, 1967, twenty copies numbered 1-20 (this is #14) were presented to friends, lovers and 'acquaintances'. Twelve copies numbered I through XII were presented to collaborators and family. This copy was presented to Jack Pooler. Marbled endpapers, Allen Tate frontis drawing. Rubricated titles. Numbering and name of recipient in hand by Rummonds/Precio. Tan paper boards over dark gray cloth backing.
Richard-Gabriel Price Rummonds. One of the great handpress printers of modern times. Born, raised and educated in California (Sacramento and at UC Berkeley) he started his press in Quito, Ecuador and moved to Argentina in 1967. Thence to Verona, Italy until 1982. The book is a collection of short stories about people Rummonds knew at a library where he worked and supposedly were written for Mark Schorrer's [sic] 106A creative writing class at Berkeley in 1953. Schorer's critiques comprise the appendices. Five copies located in OCLC as of 1/2017.
