San Francisco: Paul Elder & Co., 1910. Hardcover. [xi] 129p., rubricated title page, letterpress on scrumptious paper, a first edition limited to 230 copies, this no.143. Item cased into gray papered boards with five raised bands and title label on spine, an example of Paul Elder's more ambitious design-work. Heavy foxing speckles to untrimmed edges, cover a little dimmed with handling, label toned; entirely sound and bright within. On the first blank find Taylor's holograph inscription (signed in full) to Mrs W H Allison datelined 1916.
California poet and San Francisco mayor; expect loyal localities, celebrations of the sloop Gjoa, Mount Tamalpais, Walt Whitman, George Sterling, William Keith (the "Rembrandt of California") as well as general excellence of Euroculture. His verse is awfully standard stuff from a clever man.
