San Francisco: Printed by The Lakeside Press for John Howell, 1929. Hardcover. An amazingly good copy (no damage and has a dj) of the Argonaut Edition, copy no.167 on laid-lined Utopian, cased into 10.5x7 inch linen-backed blue paper over boards with printed paper label (extra label tipped onto a rear blank, but you won't need it), in the metallic gold dust jacket with wrap-around map printed in two colors. Extra letters (holograph) and original April 18 "Proclamation by the Mayor..KILL looters" tipped in, along with the standard inclusions such as a facsimile newspaper section in the back. Proclamation and newspaper leaf have both toned adjacent leaves (facsimile on authentic newsprint, unfortunately), item is autographed as called for, find a small 1938 ownership legend on the half-title. Each corner-tip shows a minuscule bit of card, and there are two half-inch scrapes to papered margins midway along bottom of boards, the only damage; hinges are sound, there is a hint of handling soil to heel (very faint, no distortion to spine). A near-fine copy. The evidently rare dust jacket is quite edgeworn with small chips and short tears, spine lettering (red on gold) still legible and intact (the "Y" of Years slightly affected).
