Printing for Theater

San Francisco: [The press of] Adrian Wilson, 1957. Hardcover. 57p., letterpress in colors on watermarked handmade paperstock, with an abundance of styles further evident in the bound-in and tipped-in exemplar specimens of theatre programs. No.7 of 250 copies, cased into 15.5x10.5 inch boards ("boards from the jute mines of India and glue from the finest Western stallions"), covered in Belgian linen. A complex effort requiring an extra heavy-duty rear pocket enclosing 17 separate programs, a paid invoice, and a lengthy TLs to the subscriber. Also present are two copies of the general prospectus and a cancelled cover in which one was sent through the post. A bright sound copy faintly (very faintly) toned at the lower front corner, a corner at which so massive an item might have been held open.

The mailed-out prospectus had enclosed with it an unprinted rectangle of nonarchival cardboard; this we have replaced with an alkaline piece.
