[Pinback button depicting a Yellow Submarine]
New York: the Workshop, [196-]. 1.75 inch diameter pin from the Workshop behind WIN Magazine, depicting a yellow submarine with a peace sign sprouting flowers, organization's name in tiny letters on edge, very good. The Yellow Submarine was not just a borrowed symbol; the group built an actual wooden model of the submarine that was paraded through the neighborhoods of New York and taken to demonstrations. Our source for the pin, Allan Solomonow, a member of the group, recalls that the submarine ultimately met its demise after it was taken to a major demonstration outside the Pentagon during the winter and burned for warmth.
