Double issue: 'About the California State Prison at Folsom and the mystique [!] surrounding its history, and, to many, its very existence. The first section is a trilogy: The Politics is a narrative of the turbulent beginnings of the prison based on a portion of David A. Nephew's outstanding, heretofore unpublished, master's thesis, "The History of Folsom Prison and Its Disciplinary Policies, 1856-1903." Part two, "The New Prison," is from a succinct description of the original facility presented in Thompson and West's 1880 History of Sacramento County." Part three, "The Folsom Water Power Company " is an adaptation from a melding of portions of [&c &c]. The second section is an adaptation of a series of articles written by John Fratis for the publication "Peacekeeper," a periodical of the California Correctional Peace Officers Association. The photographs are part of the collection at the Folsom Prison Museum.'.
