Tennessee elections. Speech of hon. William G. Brownlow, of Tennessee, delivered in the Senate of the United States December 15, 1869
Washington DC: F. & J. Rives & Geo. A. Bailey, Reporters and Printers of the Debates of Congress, 1869. Pamphlet. 8p., disbound 8.8x5.5 inch self-wraps, remains adhered; alkaline paperstock with scarcely any signs of handling or age. A very good copy. Brownlow, as postwar unionist governor of Tennessee, disenfranchised a majority of citizens who had supported the Confederacy. He died two years into his term, exhausted by several years' wartime flight and harsh imprisonment.
