A Jaime de Angulo reader; edited & with an introduction by Bob Callahan

Berkeley: Turtle Island, 1979. Paperback. xvi, 253p., illustrated with photographs we've never seen before, softbound in 9x6 inch wraps, a rather worn copy bearing a neat gift inscription in ink. A good (good-only) exemplar. The Berkeley writer, son of Spanish parents, had a remarkable ear for the spoken word, became a major authority on Native American languages. He compiled Native American dictionaries, was consulted by anthropologists Kroeber, Radin and Lowie, by C.G. Jung, was influenced by D.H. Lawrence (they disliked each other), charmed Henry Miller and Wm Carlos Williams. He did drag shows in San Francisco following a breakdown. On and on.
