Marpha, TX: the author, 1930. Hardcover. 377p., first edition, original wrappers rebound in waterstained boards, some loss of sizing and mildew stain, textblock also slightly affected. No mustiness. (Original cover illustration is bound in, green and red on coated white paper, in which the title lettering drips like blood onto roses growing in a cactus wilderness.).
Gram is the pseudonym of David G. Ramirez, a Mexican priest who lived in San Antonio during the Cristero War for a decade starting around 1925. One of the rarest titles in Mexican American literature because of the imprint. We would not be surprised if the imprint were faked, and the book was actually published in northern Mexico, unlike subsequent editions.
