Americans at home, a novel

Palisades: First Person, 1976. Paperback. 124p., first book publication, 8 x 6 inch plain printed wraps with a decorated dj, this sur-wrapper a little nipped at head and tail. Inscribed and signed by Elevitch on the half title; the inscription, signed only in initials, reads "America! I want a word with you! Go to your room!"

Gotta be the only avant garde housing market novel extant, or at least the only one set in Arizona. Plenty of well-crafted prose and might-get-caught sex in cars and in model homes on open-house days-- very American. The author blurbs his book himself: "I began this book in Rome in the mid fities.. about a young, detached man who suddenly takes over public relations for a mass housing firm in Arizona." Elevitch must have worked this little slice of life for twenty years.
