How it was on Park Avenue and in Armonk, being sort of rich and sort of talented, and ..having a life. Good try.. One of the vivid prose pieces is about an amateur (but quite bloody) bullfight in France, starts, "Young Mrs. Simon stood in the middle of her big sunny room in the Hotel du Palais at Biarritz. She was staring vaguely into her purse: what in the world did people take to a bullfight?"
