A long-time Socialist, he transferred his concession in Russia during the New Economic Policy period, introduced the acetylene welding business to his old homeland, and made more money. Heller invested large chunks of it in the revolutionary movement." - Harvey Klehr, Heyday of American Communism. p. 376. Klehr later notes that Heller was a close friend of Earl Browder and left the CP with Browder in 1945.
