Originally published in France in 1971, this autobiographical account of a child of the Civil War describes the rage of a survivor. "Jose's mother came from a prominent family but led a guerrilla band to harass the Franco regime. Informed upon by her own brother, poisoned by the Falangists, she admonished her son as she died to carry on the fight." Cover illustration shows a switchblade knife and, on back flap, a scary author photo; he wound up in France, returned to Spain after the death of Franco.
