Glory, glory, hallelujah; illustrated by F. R. Gruger

Indianapolis: The Bobbs-Merrill Company, 1941. Hardcover. 61p. including illus., first edition, slightly edgeworn dust jacket, otherwise very good. One of Cobb's dialect stories, himself as "Irvin," based on a reunion of black veterans of World War One. Jacket illustration shows a comically "proper" white soldier standing at attention with three black soldiers singing and whooping it up alongside. Cobb's story is set at a mass meeting in Paducah, KY, honoring a black WWI vet - and with Cobb as the only white speaker.
