[Beijing]: [Beijing publisher], 1999. 169p., text mostly in characters; 7.25 x 8.5 inch stiff photographic color wraps, color photographs throughout. Very good.
Revised, that is, from the original Taipei edition, Jong's book sufficiently popular to have jumped to the mainland, with a few changes and additions. Added are chapters on The Strand and on Jack London Bookshops, deleted are any mention of gay and lesbian sections or specialties. In any case, a useful and original look at the Anglo American book scene by an astute photographer who has chatted up and befriended many of her subjects --we know this from experience. There seems to be no other contemporary treatments.
