An historical research respecting the opinions of the founders of the republic on Negroes as slaves, as citizens, and as soldiers. Read before the Massachusetts Historical Society, August 14, 1862

Boston: John Wilson and Son, 1863. Hardcover. xviii, 184p., one of 50 copies of the "large paper" issue (9.5x11.5 inches, with very wide margins); fifth edition. Joints are splitting, a stain at right margin of all leaves is glaring in prelims, faint in terminal leaves, all extremities show card beneath cloth (lower right front corner especially), and rims of head and tail are very ragged with large chips. A central signature has escaped its threads and is started, with edgewear. A poor copy, but complete.
