The Witches of Eastwick. Illustrated by Michael Deas. First Edition.

Franklin Center, PA: The Franklin Library, 1984. Leather Bound. Unpaginated preliminaries (including Updike's sincere (didn't have to be, but is) three-page introduction; 307p., Deas' artwork is extra good (find a frontis doublespread and several vignette chapter heads), an excellence perhaps mandated by Updike's reputation, also good is the gilt design of spine and both covers. Hardbound, 9x6 inch thick reconstituted leather boards, dark green with raised bands, signed sloppily on a blank, gilded as mentioned, all edges gilt, placekeep ribbon, faux-marbled endsheets, publisher's "Dear Collector" leaflet laid in (these usually surprisingly informative), totally fine unmolested condition (clean, unmarked, &c), a very satisfying production.
