San Francisco: The Sierra Club, 1934. Hardcover. xiii, 145p., illustrated with a gravure frontis portrait tissue-guarded, and a large folded map in rear pocket. Hardbound, the first edition (first of many later printings, augmented) in 8x5.5 inch green cloth boards titled in gilt. The map, which the author worked on, is in unmolested fine condition, the frontis likewise, but beginning with the tissue-guard find a near-invisible top-edge dampstain that invisible or not has slightly sprung the upper casing. The original owner laid down on two blanks the contemporary newspaper clipping that reported Starr's death by avalanche, this clipping of course very toned but it has caused only slight damage to adjoining leaves. Book's corner-tips are turned, spine titling dim, cloth bears mild scratches and some offset color, a fair to good copy.
