Battle of Booby's Bluffs. The Attack and Defense

Washington DC: The Society of American Military Engineers, 1928. Hardcover. 142p., small hardcover in 6.5x4 inch black leatherette boards titled bronze. The second issue, first having been 1922; illustrated with seven attractive folded maps ("A 1, D 1-6") printed in four colors on white onionskin paperstock, these fastened to each other with staples. The book itself is in very good shape, although exterior titlings are quite faded; a former owner has rubber-stamped his name on endsheets, first blank, half-title, titlepage, and top edge (twice). Maps also very good (undamaged, unmarked and clean) but their staples are very rusted with minor migration. Further, the first six are indeed fastened to each other but no longer fastened to the book just laid in, whereas D 6 is tipped onto the rear pastedown. A very good, better-than-reading copy.

Author identifies himself by his full name on the last page. A teaching story with "six solutions to the same attack problem, each solution starting with the lessons learned by the errors made in the previous solution.. designed to teach the application of the principles as developed in the World War..The material in this book originally appeared as a series of articles in the Infantry Journal, Washington D.C."
