[Indianapolis?]: A. H. Woods, . 3.5x5.5 inch postcard depicting Eltinge as Mrs. Monte, "The Fascinating Widow," in beach attire with parasol. Two closed tears at right. Rear side has text: "A. H. Woods presents Julian Eltinge in 'The Fascinating Widow.' English Opera House. Week commencing Monday March 25, Matinees Wed. and Sat."
Eltinge was one of the highest paid actors in the early 1910s and made his name as "Mr. Lillian Russell" due to his female impersonations in Vaudeville and shows like "Widow." He made a few silent films but with the death of Vaudeville his career took a downturn, and he died performing his show in nightclubs in the 1940s. This card was from a touring production which originated at the Appollo in 1910. There was an English Opera House in Indianapolis at the time; this may be from that appearance.
