London: Printed [by Harding and Wright] for W. Clarke and Sons et al. 1812. xii, 702 [+ 702a, 702b], bound in full calf with panelled boards and red leather spine labels gilt. A good copy of the first k;volume needing a drink of leather preservative following saddlesoap to labels. The copy in hand has extremities that are scuffed lightly and a hairline crack developed in upper joint near the head. Label lettering is bright where not clogged with dirt. Endsheets and blanks (one each fore and aft) are original and sound but are heavily foxed, as are titlepage and terminal leaves; scattered foxing throughout the textblock. Small splash-stains affect text edges, and, (very faintly) the textblock yawns. A good copy even with these drawbacks.
