Mansfield, TX: JHG Editions / Latitudes Press, 1985. Pamphlet. [12p] 5.5 by 8.5 inches in stapled wraps. One of 500 copies produced for the Third Annual Griffin Festival. Very good. Bit soiled covers, Slight wear to corners. Some browning to edges. Small gold ink stain near top of rear endpapers. The Work of John Howard Griffin.
An account of Griffin's attempts to book venues to discuss and perform on a 'Sackbut' (a Renaissance/Baroque type of Trombone) and speculates as to the causes of the poor reception his efforts received. Touches on his past history with humor ("...I offered to give the premiere performance ... at the White House, even volunteered to spend the night, following Sammy Davis' example, as the first ex-black man ever to sleep there as an invited guest. My offer was not acknowledged" --recall author as the white memoirist of Black Like Me, hence the "ex").
