A Russian immigrant to Canada, Isaac Braun, had accused a fellow Mennonite, H.P. Friesen, of failing to repay a loan of $5,000. Friesen insisted that no such loan had ever been made. This led to a series of trials, viewed here by a member of the Friesen family as part of a Bolshevik plot to subvert Canada.
