Two volumes [xiv, [i], 409, x, 574p.], untrimmed edges (many leaves unopened, several opened clumsily), bound in uniform green cloth decorated in blind, titled gilt, top edges gilded. An ex library set whose spines have been damaged by label removal. Plates and vignette in-text illustrations appear intact. Vol. 1 has a small puncture on the spine exposing old board, minor edge wear to cloth, repaired hinge, remains of book plate on on paste down, minor internal wear. Vol. 2: Amateur repairs to spine where label removed, light stain on cloth, hinges "repaired" and a bit tight, a blank torn out, previous owner's bookplate (intact this time), some internal wear and a few pages roughly opened. A good reading copy of the two-volume first edition.
