n.p. n.pub. . Sixteen 8.5x11 inch photoreproduced sheets, small holes from removed staple at upper left corner, traces of rust from paperclip, name and address of an Oakland minister penciled on the back of the last page, minor spots of soil. Reproduced from the typed notes of a participant in Alinsky's two-week Asilomar seminar sponsored by the Urban Church department of the United Presbyterian Church, apparently for distribution to fellow activists after the attendee's return from the conference. Not an officially distributed packet from the seminar itself, but rather a record of what one participant found important and meaningful. Distills insights into civil rights organizing and the experiences of the Industrial Areas Foundation (IAF) in particular. The two basic rules for the seminar are outlined on the first page: "No theological discussions; No bluffing or lying. (The simple statement 'I don't know' is the mark of an educated man)."
