Author's first book. Brown was born in Otsego, MI and bummed around France and the US. His first poem was published in The Dial in 1926. He ended up establishing a puppet theatre in Los Angeles where such notables as Elsa Lanchester performed. He was also a songwriter (Bette Midler performed one of his songs at an AIDS benefit) He is also know as Richard Meeker who wrote "Better Angel" a 1933 novel about a gay man facing his sexuality.
