London: T. Fisher Unwin, 1892. Hardcover. 259p., b&w and sepia tissue-guarded portraits, printed on "Japanese paper" and hardbound in genuine (animal) vellum-covered boards, copy no.3 of only 65 copies so bound, attested with Jusserand's sepia-nib signature. Top edge gilded, a handsome production. Unfortunately, the boards yawn considerably, the gilt spine titling is somewhat obscured by handling soil, the ffep has been scissored (detail below), and the vaunted paper is terribly toned and a little fragile, especially along the deckled foredge. A good-only copy. The scissoring evidently removed an authorial inscription, because outside the excised area may be found an inked remnant and the initials "J. J. J." executed in the same ink and style as the limitation signature.
