Auburn: Published by Alden & Markham, 1848. Hardcover. 240p., frontis portrait of John Hancock, plain printed titlepage along with an engraved one embellished with vignette of bare-breasted lady looking seawards (foreign trade mythologized), hardbound 6.5x4.5 inch polished calf boards with red spine label gilt. A rough copy. Short lengths of clear tape fasten down one side of label and reinforce head and tail of spine, extremities severely worn with abundant card showing and loss of most of both rims, terminal blank(s) and rfep out, foxing galore.
