London: Henry Colburn, Publisher, 1844. Complete set, the first edition: iv, 319, 314, 350p., hardbound, a custom binding of pressed brown calf over 7.5x4.8 inch marbled boards; maroon and dark green spine labels, floral devices between raised bands, grey endsheets, all edges marbled. Mildly edgeworn with losses of pressed surface at corner-tips, heads and tails rubbed with minor losses of tooling (the three volumes match in terms of extent of wear), lower edges slightly scuffed. The free endpapers all bear the same two old ownership signatures, one in sepia nib, a later one in fountainpen dated 1924. Text leaves are smudged here and there, with a light but noticeable inch-long light stain in v.2 at p.73. A good tight set.
