New York: St. Martin's Press, 1984. Hardcover. 332p., photo-illustration, hardbound first edition in clothbacked pink boards and glossy dust jacket, casing has picked up touches of wear, dust-soil and foxing. A good to very good copy that is inscribed ("Hope you like it") and signed in full by Francis on front free endpaper (NB: inscribee's name has been altered for no obvious reason).
Francis, a renowned singer of the 1950s-1970s, also became an activist for victim's rights following her rape in November 1974 at a Howard Johnson's motel in Jericho, NY. She sued the motel chain for negligence and won a settlement of $1.5 million, one of the largest awards in a rape case. The case was a major victory for the anti-rape movement and caused hotels to upgrade their security.
