Pretoria: South African Tourist Corporation, 1955. Paperback. 64p., profuse captioned illustrations from soft-focus color photography and b&w sketches, softbound with a wire-wound spine, oblong 5.5x7.5 inch color wraps. Terminal gutter shows rust from the steel wire and adjacent foxing; mild external signs of handling; a very good copy. Most photos show whites at play, with the occasional waiter or caddy in background; photos of Black Africans show them in tribal activity, young women naked to waist by far the most abundant subjects (see p.36 for a poignant confrontation of same with pre-pubescent white girls in frocks; the glances exchanged are eerie). Author/illustrator Sargent did a number of books for the tourist corporation.
