Wraps are very heavily and spottily foxed on covers and through to page 7, lighter foxing thereafter. Short splits to inner signature top and tail. This is a collection of complaints and rebuttals by artists and writers who were mentioned in Stein's "The Autobiography of Alice B. Toklas;" Stein relates (for instance) that Matisse broke a guitar his model was posing with; Matisse and the model (his wife) construe it differently; nor did Madame Matisse like being described as having "a firm large loosely hung mouth like a horse"
