New York: Delacorte, 1975. Hardcover. Unpaginated, about thirty pages, first edition hardbound in pictorial color 8.5x7 inch oblong boards in ditto dust jacket; casing is slightly edgeworn, jacket more so with some short tears, a very good copy inscribed and signed by Adoff, datelined 1978. The family depicted is European, vaguely hippie-ish with papa being bearded and bearishly fat, and who on one page smokes a cigaret. Author Adoff, married to African American author Virginia Hamilton, has edited books of Black interest, here is notable for a little envelope pushing as regards the smoker, is doubtless in debt to Maurice Sendak for a glimpse of (child's) bathroom use and discreet frontal nudity, and charmingly modernist layout of the verse.
