Text of an address by Dymally,the 41st Lieutenant Governor of California and one of the first African Americans elected to statewide office since Reconstruction, at a dinner celebrating the election of Harvey Milk as SF Supervisor. "It seems undeniable to me that the Gay Liberation Movement represents the advance guard of the human rights movement...What we celebrate is not just the election of one man who symbolizes a movement. The celebration is not only a victory for tolerance; not only a victory for democracy; not only a victory for human rights. It is a victory for humanity." Concludes with a salute to Milk, who was present at the dinner.
