San Francisco: San Francisco Free Press, 1970. Newspaper. 16p., folded tabloid newspaper, poster, photos, comics, very good.
The newspaper, under the editorship of Marcus Overseth, appeared first in September 1969 as an underground paper as San Francisco Free Press without a specific sexual orientation. The second issue had about 1/3 gay content, then became all-gay - and increasingly psychedelic - through its final issue (#10, May, 1970 This issue is notable for being the first issue to "come out" so to speak. They called it volume 2 but retained the issue numbering from the previous title (hence #11) this issue features Tina Turner and Micjk Jagger on front and rear covers.
